April Showers

Okay, it isn't quite April but a cold front was blasting past mid-Sweden today giving us the typical brief showers. A very chilly wind was blowing and gusting, large heavy looking clouds travelling across the sky, shedding long curtains of snow.
I took the picture on a brief walk, a breath of (very) fresh air before heading to a friend's house for a long-planned dinner. It was a new-style dinner, no hugs, no shaking hands, a large table with 4 widely spaced places set. There should have been six of us but one person was sick so they stayed home. We wondered and considered but in the end decided the value of a sociable evening outweighed the risk. It was great fun to meet up, with delicious food and the world's friendliest hound.
During the day I was looking through photographs from last December up until mid March. I realised how different life is now. In February we had just come from Portugal. We were still going to concerts in a full theatre, we could go to a crowded church, family were visiting from the UK, and we met up with other friends from the south of Sweden at a junior ski championship, where young people from all over Sweden, and their families, were gathered together. And while all this was going on Covid 19 was already raging on the other side of the world. Little did we know, and how few listened to those who did know!
That wild weather blew by and today is much calmer. Maybe that's a metaphor for our times.
