Pieris
I first discovered Pieris trees at Winkworth Arboretum, a medium sized (National Trust) garden near Godalming, Surrey.
There was one problem for many gardeners: Pieris requires no maintenance and the only growing requirement is to be planted in acid soil.
When I had the opportunity (during building of our house) I ensured that a lorry-load of acid soil was delivered to the site. Strange? No, it was the only way to enjoy pieris and other related plants.
I show the location on the map. The Arboretum must be in full bloom. But the site is probably shut for the moment.
