Ragnar's Pointy Bits

Mono Monday: Ragnar's Pointy Bits

This little chap, with the pointy helmet, was given to Cathy and I many years ago, by a friend whose job as a lawyer had taken her to work off-shore in the UK's Isle of Man tax haven.  The island lies roughly mid way between Ireland and England in the Irish Sea and is famous for a few things, the Manx cats that have no tails, the terribly exciting but profoundly dangerous Isle of Man mortorcycle TT, and race, and a heritage that includes vikings, amongst others.

I nicknamed him Ragnar but Cathy hated him, so I took him to my desk at work, where he has lived ever since.  With my imminent retirement upon me he has now resumed life on the desk in the study.  Cathy noticed him the other day and commented that he was rather fun and asked where he came from.  She was rather surprised when I reminded her, as she is more than happy to have him around nowadays.

I've spent most of the day in the (virtual) office working from home.  But I've now completed just about all of my pre-retirement tasks, so hopefully there is very little for me to actually do between now and my last day on Friday.  Its good to finally have got that feeling and I confess to allowing myself a glass of alcoholic beer this evening to celebrate it with.

Today's classic album was: Lloyd Cole and the Commotions  ~ Rattlesnakes.

It has some absolute belters on it, but has some dull patches to my ears which make listening to it as an album from start to finish a bit more of a challenge - but the good tracks are very good so it was definitely worth sticking with it.
