Carnage…
…………………in the Garden
The not so nice side of nature!
This monarch caterpillar was very happy munching its way through the swan plant leaves this morning, but by mid afternoon this menacing paper wasp was making short work of a late lunch.
By now the wasps are usually past feeding their young protein and now supping on nectar so it was a complete surprise discovering this carnage. I know, it’s all part of the food chain.
All remaining caterpillars are now safely in a caterpillar castle - which will also be protecting them from the hungry South African prying mantis who also find these caterpillars delicious.
Thanks so much for the many visits to yesterday’s Mono Monday blip. I really appreciate the comments, stars and hearts - thank you for these gifts.
