Hualien

Five hour train journey to Hualien and then a visit to a dried fish flake factory (with free samples - more delicious than it sounds) and some cycling along the coastal path. The path took in such beautiful sights as a rubbish dump, a tyre factory and a full circuit of the perimeter of a cement factory. And some nice sea views.

My cycling companion couldn't ride a bike, so we had to use a tandem. Half way up a particularly difficult hill I looked back and found her with her feet up on the handle bars tying her shoelace...
