Bravehearts!

Apologies for posting more sheep again today but following yesterday's Blip I had a question from blipmate  Kate in Portland, Oregon about the hint of blue on the sheep in question.

Here at Chez Broon we're only too happy to help answer any queries regards our Wee Country.

The Braveheart Breed (Melus Gibsonicus) is exclusive to Scotland and is affectionately known as a Saltire. It's famous blue wool is much sought after and has traditionally been used to weave the cloth for the jerseys of the Scottish sporting teams and more recently for Andy Murray's underpants.

It's introduction into Scottish farming is often thought to derive from Sir William Wallace's desire to kit his troops to match his facepaint. It's more accurate to attribute it's arrival on these shores to Viking raids and in particular to one Olof Prial a famous warrior and sheep worrier from Denmark.

I hope that helps, Kate.
