Life in the time of Covid 19 Day 8
Low tide allows for beautiful reflections on the damp sand.
Lockdown
Life has melted into a pleasant little routine, the morning in particular just seems to fly by. The weather helps, it is warm with temperatures each day between 20 and 23°. High tide occurs at the moment around 1pm and so we can walk on the beach in the early morning and the again in the late afternoon.
Last night several milestones occurred
A new fridge/freezer will be delivered and installed and the old one taken away on Friday - yeah!
We have seats on a Qatar flight to London Heathrow via Doha at 14:45 on Wednesday 15th April, we have so enjoyed staying here but feel the need to get back to our home and family, even if we just have to wave to them out the window; the first two weeks home will be in self isolation. I had to be picked up off the floor when told the cost - £1800 per person, we had the last two seats so it will be packed and unpleasant. Someone is making a lot of money out of this virus and it is clear the UK Govt is not helping the 10,000 Brits in New Zealand.
We have paid a fortune for our car hire and the company have generously agreed to a cost of only $100 until end of April (just incase the flight is cancelled).
I won £25 with my Premium Bond - oooh, that will help with the airfare.
The one and only ATM had some money in it this morning!
Very few people about today, PM Jacinda gave us all a bit of a ticking off yesterday for moving about too much, especially the 20 - 29 year old which l just miss out on but we must all try harder.
