Diary of an Edinburgher

Leo for lunch

Leo and his mum and dad were coming over for lunch today. This has been postponed twice due to illness at their place or here. Sure enough, the phone went this morning, and Leo's dad has a very sore back and couldn't come!

However, Leo and his mum came. Funnily enough, he was all shy when he came in at first. It hasn't been THAT long since he's been here. But he soon forgot his shyness and was dancing around and pressing the 'find' button on the phone to make it ring (hilarious!). But the best toy that he played with all afternoon was a bottle of water. He couldn't get the top off, but tried and tried and tried. And when he wasn't trying, he was carrying it around.

I took loads of photos of Leo, using my compact camera with the pop up flash - not ideal. But I liked this one of him clutching his best toy.

We had a cocktail of some lovely St Germain Elderflower liqueur that our pals in Oz sent at Christmas. You mix it in a tall jug, half prosecco, half sparkling water and a top up with the liqueur. There are of course lots of recipes, but this one was easy and was marked on the jug. Tasted delicious.

We've just been out for a brisk walk round Bruntsfield. Now I can finish off the cocktail. Or perhaps I should tidy up the kitchen first.

Anything made from elderflowers can't be too alcoholic... but I read the bottle and it said it was 40% proof!

Must be a mishprint...
