From the Ridiculous to the Sublime
I decided my hour’s walk today would be through the centre of the city. It was a good choice because the streets were empty and the pavements wide enough for the rare solitary pedestrian to pass at the 2metre distance .The scene was almost apocalyptic and reminded me of Cormac McCarthy’s book ‘The Road’. I have put a collage of the roads on my walk as an extra photo.
I couldn’t help feeling secretly pleased that all the summer festivals in Edinburgh have been cancelled. That will be 4 Million visitors fewer. Greyfriar’s Bobby will have some downtown at last. What will happen to the potholes and my Council Tax of course as a result remains to be seen.
I have arranged with some neighbours to stand outside the fronts of our buildings to clap the NHS tonight. It’s a neighbourhood where there are many non permanent residents so it will be interesting to see how many people follow suit.
My blip is of the 2020 Shetland Wool week hat which I’ve knitted more or less to the pattern which was sent to me online last week. I say more or less but probably more rather than less using wool I already had.
