I am sure this fixed and steely stare is intended to intimidate however it rarely seems to work alone as, for most of the local gull population, the stare usually turns pretty quickly into a raucous scream whenever an uninvited visitor steps into the 'personal space' of the gull in question.

Anyway this 'Seymour' allowed me to get quite close relying on the 'evil-eye' mechanism.
