The Corona Diaries, day #18
Gaël, in the light of the iPad with his 18-day beard.
He's been at work all day again - there are just four or five maintenance guys in the factory that usually employees 900 or so, but they want to start the place up again on 13 April. The original plan was to start again next Monday, but they've realised they might need to redesign workstations to keep (the hundreds of) people apart ... I dunno, maybe just don't send people back just yet, hey?
Anyway, it was Gaël's turn to be there this week so he should get next week at home - fingers crossed.
(And thoughts and strength sent to all key workers who just have to get on with it - THANK YOU!)
I've been working again too... the days are definitely starting to feel longer now. The kids are still being brilliant though, which is a big help!
Went into the village for bread and had a lovely chat (at a distance) with one of our elderly neighbours on the way home. I told him to shout over the fence if he needed anything, he just shrugged (in that Gallic way) and said he'd fought in Algeria and seen the Gestapo in our village in '44 when he was a teenager, so should be able to see his way through this. I hope so, I hope we all do.
