MCO day 17

Another slow start to school and it was difficult keep up the enthusiasm and focus. Wen went to Jaya for us and her self isolating parents. Not wee Jaya along the road, which was closed early last night for deep cleaning following the case in the Verve, but big Jaya at 163. She was away nearly 2 hours but still didn't get everything.

Then this afternoon, a first a Zoom.art class with Olivia and I doing one session and Amelia and Wen another. Our session was about viruses and it took nearly 40 minutes to get past some dodgy facts about viruses and bacteria (used interchangeably): lockjaw, cholera, Covid-19. I am sure that the advice is right, the use of masks does diminish the imperative of social distancing. It was an odd couple of hours, conducted in English and Chinese, but the Monnets session I suppose was worth it. More next Friday.

The coughs are still with us but nobody is worried. Malaysia is opening a new quarantine facility for those with minimal or no symptom: large white screened cubicles with 10 beds in each. You get a bed, a pillow and a desk.

Today the Government finally decided that Ramadan (starts 23rd) bazaars will not go ahead. These are the crowded and popular stalls that sell food etc for the breaking of fast. It seems like a no-brainer but there are huge economic implications too.

17 days gone, 11 to go.
