A red red rose
A man stands alone,
He lays a red rose gently
On the icy snow.
Then he walks slowly away,
Leaving his bright love burning.
We took Mrs Woo up onto the Ashdown Forest for a run after lunch. It was still quite snowy up there. As we were setting off, we saw an elderly man walking alone carrying a single red rose. He walked a little way along, then stepped off the path and lay the rose on the ground. He stood, head bent, for a moment, then turned and walked back to the car.
I don't know whether it was a birthday or anniversary, but he clearly wanted to lay a tribute to someone, and this was their special place. It was so moving. he wasn't distraught or upset, but gently solemn.
How wonderful to be remembered in such a loving way.
My nearly blip is below - it's a more fun image but I was so moved by this man, it had to be the rose.
