The Amphibian Party Zone

It was a lovely day and we wanted to get out, so we took our bikes to the gameland early in the afternoon and visited two favorite vernal pools. We had a lot of rain the other day, and things were really perking along. The smaller pond had perfect reflections. This, the larger one, was partially covered in a film of pollen. What you cannot see is that there are amphibian eggs here and there, tadpoles swimming about, and newts feasting and conducting other newt business. Welcome to the amphibian party zone!
