Silly Saturday

I came across this sorry-looking creature on my Government-approved single daily episode of exercise, walking in the nearby Country Park. I identified it immediately as being of the species Trolleycus Supermarketi Asdaricus, a member of a group of related species including Trolleycus Supermarketi Tescoricus, Trolleycus Supermarketi Morrisonia and Trolleycus Supermarketi Sainsburyae, not to forget newer members of the species: Trolleycus Supermarketi Aldiorum and Trolleycus Supermarketi Lidlicus.
 
I suspect this example of the species may have taken ill – possibly with Coronavirus: if so it’s certainly doing an excellent job of socially isolating itself. It’s actually quite unusual to see them on their own, as they’re very sociable and prefer to huddle together in shelters in supermarket car parks (or sometimes at large DIY stores and garden centres, although at these stores they’re often rather different in bodily shape). The total population seems to increase roughly in proportion to the increase in number of such stores although exactly how they reproduce hasn’t been established as yet.
 
They’re generally very helpful creatures, offering to carry shopping round the stores and even taking it to shoppers’ cars. Some of them, however, are rather naughty and whilst undertaking these activities will suddenly swerve to one side, sometimes crashing into the shelves in the stores or even into a passing car in the car park.
 
I’ll keep an eye on this one when I’m walking in the same location as I do hope it recovers from whatever illness is afflicting it – I’d like to see it back with its family members soon.
