Walking along a country lane, enjoying the warm spring sunshine, listening to the birds singing in the trees, admiring distant views, soaking up the aroma from so many Primroses in the hedgerow, when suddenly a not so pleasant smell is detected. Rounding a bend, I discovered a muck spreading unit in a field, left unattended for reasons unknown. Now when the wind is blowing from a certain direction the effects of this "fertiliser" can be fully appreciated in the village.
