Voyage of discovery

My neighbour said today: “Well we’ve no excuse for not having a beautiful garden this year.
With the lockdown and “Stay at Home” message being well observed many are spending hours more than usual in their gardens to prevent them going stir crazy indoors.
I am no exception and spend the majority of my time outdoors. Today it was turn of the back outside border that is allowed to grow wild. It looks good in the summer with daisies, forget-me-nots, foxgloves and wild clematis but is also becoming increasingly populated by nettles and Bishop Weed. Time for a clear out and removal of the majority of the rampant species.
Whilst doing this and cutting back some box hedging I discovered a beautiful red Rhododendron which was in full bloom in the areas that had been covered by the box. It’s amazing what you discover when you have more time on your hands that you can devote to your garden!!
