Quiet Calton Hill

I decided to walk up Calton Hill this afternoon. The streets were very quiet (see extra). Not quite deserted, but not far off, and Calton Hill was very quiet too. There were very few people about and noticably much less traffic noise from the city. I could hear far more bird song than I've ever been aware of before. In fact there was a real riot of birdsong as I made my way down. It was really lovely. I think the noise of traffic must normally drown most of it out. The gorse was in bloom so I took some time to enjoy the colour and the gorgeous smell, before heading back home.
