Local Art Lover, Too

What you see behind artist SB is a small quilt that soon will be hanging on the wall behind the sofa in our living room, filling a large space that has long needed some warmth and interest.

I met SB at the Bellingham Farmers Market last year, where she had just begun selling her varied and imaginative crafts. I was drawn to the small hanging quilt in that link, with no two blocks alike in fabric or the quilting stitches, but knew I'd want more blue, yellow, and green in one for our house, so I asked if she did commissions.

SB did, and was also willing to use some fabric I had saved, along with fabric from her own much larger collection. She ended up making two similar small quilts, and this morning I went to her house to see them both and decide which one would be mine.

It was difficult to choose, but I kept going back to this one. SB will sew fabric loops on the back into which a wooden dowel can be inserted for hanging the quilt, and soon it will have a new home. I expect that you'll be seeing it again!

(My friend and local blipper CelloNerd posted her 100th blip yesterday -- take a look)!
