A Favourite Thing
This pin oak is the centre piece of a beautiful park in Blackheath.
I love it, not just because it's beautiful, but because it's the focus of much activity, particularly at this time of the year when children enjoy playing in the mountain of leaves.
In summer people gather in its shade, and groups sit on rugs, chatting.
At times it looks like a scene from a Brueghel painting.
So far this autumn I've seen no one playing under it.
This doesn't do it justice, but I didn't want to wait for the late afternoon light, as I wanted to get something up to remind you all of the challenge.
I'm looking forward to seeing your favourite things.
