Little Brown Birds - generally referring to the many different kinds of sparrows in North America. Hard to identify, but with some attention to details, it can be done.
This little guy is most likely a wintering adult Golden-crowned Sparrow. Golden patch on head, yellow beak, some yellow in the legs, white bars on the wings, no speckling on the breast, white circling around the eyes. However, there are probably another dozen sparrows that might fit into these details. So, the next thing to do is look at relative size and of course region.
Enjoy!
