No Nukes March
As everyone knows, on March 11th, 2011, Japan was affected by one of the world's largest earthquakes, followed by one of the world's largest tsunamis, and then hours later, by one of the world's most serious nuclear disasters.... That's a lot of world records to break in one day in terms of most terrible things to happen. As Japan was also the only country in the world to be attacked by nuclear weapons, the fact that Japan is also now facing decades of nuclear pollution and hazards due to the Great East Japan Earthquake, means that most Japanese are against all forms of nuclear power. Remember, that as well as holding the above mentioned world records, Japan also happens to be the most geologically unstable country in the world, with earthquakes and eruptions happening consistently. I am so used to earthquakes, that something that would send a panic in Canada, a 5 on the Richter scale, here goes basically unnoticed lol!
The photo for today is of a no nuke march here in my hometown. More and more, people are demonstrating that they want their government to explore other safer ways of supplying power to the country. However, having few natural resources and hydro-electric sources, Japan relies heavily on nuclear power..... Maybe this will get the Japanese creativity going and start a revolutionary era of safe and renewable energy sources!
