Hidey hole

I made Katie a hammock under my desk/our table today. She keeps calling it the Under because she can't remember the word hammock. She spent two hours there while I worked, doing reading and journalling. We had a comedy moment when B dropped some fruit off for us and Katie attempted to get out. There was also a tough moment when her instinct was to just run towards B for a hug and I had to catch her and hold her back. That was a bit of a kick in the gut.

Anyway, she also returned to the hammock twice later in the day. At 11, we had arranged a virtual play date with mollie. The two of them did an art tutorial and each recreated the Starry Night. It's one of Katie's favourite artworks. Despite limited painting resources causing her a bit of frustration, she had a very happy couple of hours at it.

She gave up because her stomach declared it to be lunchtime (1pm is really quite late for Katie for lunch!) but I had it ready and waiting. We went straight out for daily exercise afterwards. I took her poi with us and we explored a new bit of woodland we've not been in before - you cant normally because the golf course  surrounds it.

She did bassoon when we got home before her tea with some telly. She was all set for a 5pm ballet class but at 505 when it hadn't started we realised the American clocks changed at the weekend and the class is now in fact at 6pm! She went and played her clarinet for a while instead, doing some audition prep and working on her part for the Jess Gillam virtual scratch orchestra. She did though make it to the 6pm timing of the class! There was a beautiful bit of centre work to a specially donated track of Tomorrow by Jennifer Nettles. I filled up a bit. Jennifer then joined the live feed for a few minutes which was cool.

Katie played lego for a bit before putting herself back in the hammock while we had a video chat with granny & grandad. All in all, we reached the end of the day and felt it had been a Good Day by lockdown standards. It didn't feel too far removed from a quiet Bank Holiday. A Good Day.
