Letting off Steam
Used up the last our our Christmas presents to us today, with a day out on
"The Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express"
Great day out, and the heavy snow overnight made the early morning drive from Lymm to Victoria Station a good old fashioned adventure.
For those interested :-
We were pulled by two Stanier Black 5's (44871 "The Midlander" and 45407 "The Lancashire Fusilier").
Ee up lad, as think it would have been reet proper to 'ave tow'd Lancashire Fusilier" in Front, dun't thee?
There were 11 carriages and the brake van was a class 47 (I think) Diesel privateer.
The Route?
Manchester Victoria to Carlisle then Carlisle to Settle and then to Victoria
Due to Snow we were 10 mins late departing , but finished the day bang on time.
I wish the proper rail providers could be this accurate and comfortable.
