Stone ‘style’!

We live in millstone grit country and I just love coming across old stone gate posts that are usually no longer in use, often with no sign of why a gate was needed as there is no wall or
fence left either side. Here one (right) has been incorporated into a stile and the other (left) is an example of the post having no use as the path goes unobstructed to the right of it. I particularly  like the left one as you can see along side it what was once the stile. Who was ever that thin or had such long legs, quite a few of us vertically challenged would certainly struggle!
A later walk today and not as bright and sunny. I was so tired last night I felt slightly ill so a lie in after a good nights sleep was most welcome.
I even did FaceTime with Grace and Eda when I was still in bed! Chris had put some bread on so had to wait for that so I got my ironing done whilst waiting.

These gate posts and stiles are at the top of Goit Stock Woods where we walked through to Hallas Bridge and then on to Hewenden. From there we crossed the bridge and climbed into the fields past Hallas Cote Farm and on to Hallas Hall farm where I was born. A good nostalgia walk here as my friend lived in the former farm and we spent many hours in and around both farms and the woods.
We returned through the woods above Goit Stock, at the other side of the Beck and spotted two deer on the horizon. A nice ending to a slightly longer than usual- 4.5 miles.
A late lunch and a bit of a rest before gearing up for the NHS call at 8.00pm and then an hour long ABBA sing at 8.15pm. Hope I can find all the words!

In the extra Eda is amongst the bluebells further out in sunny Bristol than here. I took pictures of Grace here among the bluebells 3 years ago when she was pregnant with Eda
