Song bird

Continuing my occasional series of singing garden birds, here is one of our robins, singing enthusiastically in a birch tree this morning. Some robin facts:

- Both sexes sing all year round except for a short period in late summer when they are moulting.

- As demonstrated in the photo, they usually sing from a concealed perch within a bush or tree.

- Their autumn and spring songs are completely different.

- They are often active in half-light, artificial light and even in the middle of the night, and are usually one of the earliest birds to start singing in the morning and latest to stop in the evening.

In Extras is a wren I discovered at the bottom of the garden this morning and who I think is nesting in a bush in next door's garden. I will be trying to get some better photos over the weekend...
