Lent 2020 day 44
’Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.’ (Galatians 6:9)
Dr Tiwonge Gawa writes:
“I remember visiting a forest as part of my ecology course at University, some 20 years ago. I knew then I wanted to be part of the movements working tirelessly to ensure that this beauty did not disappear.
Many times, in this journey, it seems that more has been lost than preserved. It is easy to grow ‘weary’ when it appears as if you are alone in the battle. When those that you think should be at the forefront of this fight seem not to care… close relatives, friends, or even the church.
We should be strengthened in the knowledge that we serve a God who is a ‘farmer’ and always true to his word. The good that we are sowing will indeed reap a good harvest in his time. Thus, we should never give up, even when we are the only ones in our neighbourhood taking initiatives to replant trees, recycle, and live sustainably.
Dear Lord,
We pray Lord that you will give us supernatural strength to continue to do good and care for your creation and one another. We also thank you for the harvest that will come from this work… in our time and in that of the generations to come. Amen.”
