William Busfeild Ferrand

Born as William Busfeild (and no I haven’t spelt it wrong!), but when his mother inherited her brother’s estate (including Bingley St Ives) the will required them to take the Ferrand name. He was born in1809 and married his second wife the Hon. Fanny Mary Stuart(1816-1896) in 1847. He dropped the Busfeild name in 1854 after his mother died.

These initials are in the gatehouse, known as St Ives Lodge, which we walked past on our daily Boris walk today.

Other than that I have planted some raspberry canes, sown some seeds, helped put up and take down a tent,(Mr H was re poofing it) turned the two compost heaps and generally messed around in the garden.
