Bidford bridge
The sunshine got me out on my bike again but although it was not that cold, there was a very strong wind from the south-west to contend with. However it was lovely to be able to get out for the first time in 2 weeks.
It's always a good cycling principle to set off into the wind, then you have got it behind you coming back. Thats the theory anyway. 6 miles south-west of us is Bidford-on-avon which has a most attractive 15th century bridge. It has triangular Cutwaters on the upstream side to divert the water flow through the arches. At road level these also double as pedestrian refuges. The bridge is only 1 car wide so there are traffic lights and inevitable delays when busy.
Today the Avon is in flood and the water is about a metre higher than usual. Many of the roads were also flooded which meant that I had cold wet feet when I got back home.
I liked the golden light on the brickwork in this photo
