A Wee Bit Daffy
Can't help but think the Velvet Scoter was the inspiration for Daffy Duck ('duck' being a more recognisable and more interestingly alliterative species to use).
Mel's ill, and with the weather blawin' a hoolie opportunities for 'stuff' to do were limited. So I got the RSPB garden birdwatch out of the way (Dunnocks the most numerous visitors, but Coal Tits the most frequent), while letting the chooks out to free range at the same time; then wandered off down to Musselburgh to pass some of the afternoon, and for the first time in a while got something for the BlipBigYear that wasn't already on the list (I'd gone specifically hoping for these guys to be closer to shore, with the tide coming in).
p.s. I watched bits of the Murray - Djokovic match as well, but found myself mentally tuning out, hankering after the days of serve and volley. These guys are undoubtedly amazingly fit and skillful, and there were occasional flashes of interesting tennis, but baseline rallies, that made up the majority of the match, don't really get me 'excited'.
