Essential Work
My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,
I'm sure you heard about Jacinda's speech where she classified the Easter Bunny as an essential worker.
As you can see, we bumped into a Kiwi today who has taken this to heart, hopping around the neighbourhood and lifting the spirits of local children.
This is one of the nice things about this horrible situation. People generally appear to be being nicer to each other*. The bunny waved to us, but she wasn't the only one. Everyone we saw today was very friendly (from the regulation distance).
We had to go out today because we were running low of a few things. We decided to go together, not to try and get more than our share of stuff, but purely because it's easier to carry with both of us there. Cat food, milk and bread, mainly.
We get a food order delivered every week (it's like one of those Food Box things) and it usually comes with sliced bread. But last week it came with an artisan loaf. Which I'm not theoretically against, but it's pretty tough. Cutting a slice requires a lumberjack. So I really wanted some sliced bread of any description.
It was a successful trip. Caro and me had our two separate lists and we got in an out in 30 minutes. Although Caro nearly lost it with some people who were completely blocking an aisle, not caring about the 2 metre rule. One of them was sitting on the floor.
"I f*cken HATE people," said Caro afterward. It seems that life in isolation is not causing her to miss people. Quite the opposite in fact. She may never be able to return to the real world.

* I mean, I'm hearing the horror stories too - of health workers being targeted for abuse by @rseholes. But that's just @rseholes. Most people are like us. They take this thing seriously and support doctors and nurses.
