Day Eighteen; Across the purple-sided Pink Bridge
Today is the eighteenth day of full lockdown of the whole country. I write "full", but workers at essential services still go to work, everyone can exercise locally, and we can access essential services such as supermarkets, GPs and hospital. Many people do not currently attend Emergency Department, to the extent that our ED is only working at 25% of capacity.
The best news of the day is that there has been a further drop in the number of new cases in the last 24 hours. Down from 29 to 18. The lockdown appears to be being effective, as the start of the drop was 14 days after the lockdown began. We can't guarantee that, and I expect that the Government will not lift the lockdown earlier than the four weeks.
I had an early morning walk with my camera. On this usually quite busy place for morning exercise (walk, run or cycle) there was one other walker, going the opposite direction and we smiled and greeted each other.
