Birthday

It's my birthday today. 

I don't know why, but nothing about the day worked for Katie. Maybe it was the self-imposed pressure to "be good" and make "my" day nice.... But it went quite spectacularly wrong really. I was pretty ready for the day to be over by tea time. However, after Katie had finished her tea I told her we were going out. We had a glorious time in the setting sun before coming home to snuggles and birthday cake. That last hour or so was quite wonderful.
