So today we have the red-bellied woodpecker visiting our backyard feeder area.
This bird is more common than the red headed which I posted Friday. The red headed is uncommon and listed as ”threatened” largely due to loss of habitat, so we are lucky to see any.
Interestingly, the red bellied woodpecker does not have a red belly so the naming is somewhat confusing. The bird does have a red stripe running across the top of it’s head, but a mostly white belly.
Hey, I don’t name ‘em, I only photograph them. :-)
We continue to remain on house arrest and for the first time in the history of the United States, all 50 states are in a State of Emergency.
