Red Kite
This was the only photograph taken today, and I managed to trip over rushing into the house to get the camera. Luckily my fall was broken by a thyme plant in a plastic pot, which acted as a cushion. The pot was destroyed but the thyme survived!
Much of the morning was spent preparing for a family barbecue to celebrate Pete's forthcoming 65th birthday. Pete and I made salads and marinated meat, while Sarah and Ben produced a delicious rhubarb Bakewell tart and some exquisite lemon curd tartlets topped with white chocolate ganache.
The weather was perfect - continuous sunshine and virtually no breeze, and we spent all day out in the garden. It was even some small comfort that the weather in the UK was better than that in Cyprus, where we should have been celebrating.
I know that we are so fortunate to have family living with us, and a garden to use for this celebration. I really feel for those who are having to cope with lockdown in a flat with no garden, particularly if they have children - it must be so hard...
