Lockdown Day 18 - The Tree Day
So this morning we did our usual and had coffee outside, the wind was still blowing, just a little now, unlike last nights howling winds.
I struggle to sleep when the wind blows, banging of windows, cracking of trees. I have images of branches landing on the bed.... so I got up and pulled the windows in slightly and went back to bed.... Aaahhh!
Anyway while outside checking on our newly planted butternut we passed this beautiful butterfly known as a White-barred Emperor. The male wingspan is 60-75mm and the female a little larger at 75-90mm.
Today J and I walked around our whole garden and identified all the large trees we have. We mostly have Marula trees. A great use for the fruit from this tree is making beer or as some of you may know the cream liqueur Amarula is made from those very same fruits.
The tree also has a great medicinal use too, the red sap under it's bark can be used as an antihistamine for bites.
This afternoon we watched another live safari and I did a little more studying while J made us a yummy fresh salad for dinner.
