Mono Monday : : Negative Space
It could be an apt description of my whole life right now, but art does imitate life, and negative spaces can yield positive images if one looks carefully.
We had Zoom Pilates class with our teacher who is five months pregnant and teaching from her guest bedroom. Her sister and brother-in-law and their baby are living with them while they hunt for a house. Needless to say, that isn’t happening right now...
A remote consult with our vet resulted in a diagnosis of a ‘hot spot’ neatly hidden beneath Ozzie’s ear and not discovered until the beginning of the weekend. He prescribed prednisone and antibiotics, John drove to his office, phoned from the parking lot and they brought the meds out to the car...
Zoom meetings must use up the battery pretty quickly. It was almost dead when the appointed time cane for me to
chat with my doctor who substituted a Zoom appointment for a regular office visit scheduled months ago. Of course at the last minute I couldn’t find the cord for the computer which promptly died. Not a good state of affairs for a chat about the state of my blood pressure. Fortunately I found the cord and got the computer going in time to find my way to the ‘virtual waiting room.
When she asked one of the Medicare required questions, ‘have you been depressed in the last two weeks?’ I just burst out laughing and said , ‘are you kidding me?’ She said she’s from Philadelphia and is very grateful she isn’t living there right now. The models for the spread of the virus in Sonoma County suggest that it won’t peak here until the end of May, and there there is some chance it won’t peak at all. Nobody seems willing to hazard a guess as to what that means. Six more weeks seems a long time for everybody to live in negative space....
