Happy Easter?
For about 10 minutes after this moment. Then a bit less Happy Easter.
Then the tornado sirens started screaming, and we hurried to the basement for the following hour. Then we lost power, for a large part of the night. The winds blew so loudly, our pups jump on the bed and demanded to be held. Funny beasts, they don't care about rain, thunder, and lightning, but howling wind does a number on them.
I slept terribly. Couldnt fall asleep from all the adrenaline, piled on top of already-elevated coronaxity. The power came back on in the middle of the night, the lights blinded us, as we couldn't remember what we left on before the power went out. And as soon as I felt back asleep, it was time to get up and teach an optional online class, to which none of my students show up.
Starkville faired out exceptionally well. People lost power, but not homes, or lives. Others in nearby communities were not so lucky...
All in all, I am thankful for a lovely meal with my guys, conversations with family and friends near and far, and for sheer dumb luck of surviving the storm unscathed.
