Canterbury Hotel
The Canterbury Hotel in Sydney is abstract only in the sense that if you look up, you can see winged horses, or pegasi, adorning its facade. There's also one on the hotel sign at the edge of the footpath, in the extra. The horses reference (a verb I used to object to, but now accept) the local racecourse, established in the 1880s.
The hotel exterior is pleasingly Art Deco, but inside it's had a 1970s or 80s makeover. There is carpet up the walls.
