Supermarket Sleep
Today the sun was shining, my energy levels were returning and the little ones needed to get out so we headed out to Farlington Marshes for a wander with the little ones. In our rush to get the little ones ready and out of the door us parents left our wellies at home meaning it ended up a shorter and muddier walk than we had planned. That said we still went far enough for the little ones to, impress us with how far they could manage to walk, and with the amount of muddly puddles they could splash on to our poorly protected feet and legs (we were not quite as impressed with the latter).
Afterwards we headed to the local supermarket for some supplies and some lunch in the cafe. As we queued Boy conked out so we positioned ourselves on the sofas to eat while he slept. Wife and Girl then over shopped while I drank coffee and Boy continued to rest.
Once up we ventured into the shopping arena, found wife and swapped trolleys and children. Then a familiar face passed me by. I was not sure at first but then realised that it was a very good old friend that I lost touch with about 12 years ago, and have often wondered how he is since. I had that moment of questioning whether to make contact or continue on, and decided it was too important not to contact so headed down to kitchen utensils isle and headed him off.
He was shocked and surprised to see me, and commended me on my recognition skills, though to be fair he has hardly changed. We had a quick catch up and he met the family. There is something quite reassuring about seeing certain people after such a long time and knowing that they are still out there even if our teenage long hair days (in my case any hair days) are solidly behind us.
When we got home there was a Rolls Royce Phantom outside one of our neighbours houses (doesn't happen often round here). It was incredible, with some amazing features and was simply ginormous. I am not into cars really but even I was impressed with this one as we were shown round it before it was to go back home. And so I should have been really considering it was longer than our house is wide and is worth more than it too.
