Bridlepath

It was a relief to get out for a wander down the lane after work.
Another very ancient track but this one has always fascinated me because it is a bridlepath but immediately to the left of the picture (just on the other side of that wall) there is a footpath running parallel all along the same length. I’m not sure I’ve come across this before and don’t know why they have developed like this. I can imagine the bridlepath would have been very muddy and churned up by horses but that would be true of all similar bridlepaths.
