Hellooooooooo !

At this time of year, we are visited by the Hoopoes.  A pair have been flitting around the garden for a couple of days now. We always hope that they stay and nest, but no luck so far. Still they are nice to see.  An important, but unpleasant aspect of hoopoes is that their nests stink!  The female secretes some noxious scent to deter predators.  They do not clean their nest throughout the time they use it, another addition to the pong.  Still, if they ever decide to stop longer and produce young, I just won’t get too close to their nest............
