Sydenham Green
Sydenham Green was commenced in 1995. To proceed, it needed the demolition of 152 homes. Protests held up the works for several days (!). The Federal government deemed its plans necessary because the introduction of a third runway to Sydney airport would render the houses unlivable due to the noise of very low flying planes.
Sydenham Green pays tribute to a residential area lost, through some giant symbols of home. The photo shows a giant teapot, cup and couch. M sitting on the couch provides perspective. Note the detail in the throw on the couch and the mosaic work around the teapot.
Sydenham Green also pays tribute to the Aboriginal people who inhabited this land.
Thanks for hosting Admirer. Stay well all.
