Repairs needed

The wind and rain (or was it a downy?) knocked a board loose on our deck, and these two birds were chattering about it this morning. The downy woodpeckers like to climb up and down the boards as they wait for their turn at the feeder. Sometimes they sample it a bit to make sure it's not a tree.

A lazy Saturday. I had visions of productivity that will wait til tomorrow. I walked the hill with W, which was lovely and sunny and cool. Also three-way texted over the past couple hours with my mom and sister in Seattle (it's past midnight here now). Mom had to take my stepdad to the ER for the second time in less than a month, not a place to be if you don't need to. More repairs. Worrying, but they're home now. 

Stepped outside just now to breathe the cold night air, and heard a great-horned owl. Other than the faint answer, it's so quiet.
