Pete Greig in my office

I’ve loved mornings with Pete Greig over the last few days, on what should have been Spring Harvest week for many. What a brilliant man his is, and how comforting his words have been this week.

This morning I made white chocolate chip cookies for the SYFC video of the day and they were so delicious and sweet and buttery that I had to take the bulk of them over to Becky because I can’t have them in the house. True to form I’d eaten the rest of them by the end of the day.

Today was grey and after weeks of unbroken sunshine, it was hard not to feel the heaviness that accompanies dark skies. I didn’t achieve much today, apart from finishing Tiger King, if that can even be called an achievement. It took a lot of will power to force myself out of the house for a walk this evening but, inevitably, I did feel better for it.

I recounted a couple of positives of the day to Robert whilst on my walk. One of which being that I’ve treated myself to a little GPS device for the bike so I can start to try some new routes and not be reliant on constantly looking at my phone if I want to try somewhere new. I’ve always been reluctant to get anything like this because I am competitive and the addition of any gadget that shows me my speed will inevitably spoil a ride for me. This one I’ve ordered simply shows an arrow in the direction you should be going so hopefully will suit my needs!

The other positive is that I heard from the Food Hub that they’re now accepting new volunteers and so I might be able to help them out with their food deliveries soon. The hardest thing about lockdown has been the feeling of uselessness so I’m really looking forward to be able to do a tiny little something to help.
