A Recommended Walk
If you are driving north up the coast of Sweden you'll reach the High Coast Bridge about half way up the country. Turn off directly after the bridge, drive up to the High Coast hotel and park. From the carpark a walk leads up the hill, the path marked with blue dots. Follow the path past the wind turbine on top of the hill and eventually you'll reach this viewpoint. It takes about 20 minutes to get here from the car park and it really is worth doing the walk.
In front of you is the Baltic, or to be absolutely accurate, the Gulf of Bothnia. The land you see to your left is mostly mainland, and to your right it's mostly islands. Through that gap on the horizon lies the open sea.
When you've finished enjoying the view return to the hotel and have a cup of coffee or an ice cream. You can sit inside if it's a bit chilly, or outside if it's warm enough. Either way you'll get a great view of the river and the High Coast Bridge as you enjoy your snack, your "fika".
Today it was felt warm and my jacket stayed in my rucksack. There was virtually no snow left where we walked and in places it was really dry. Jan reckoned it smelled more of summer than spring. On Blip I've changed my "season" tag from "spring/winter" to "spring".
I wonder how long it will be before we can travel freely around Europe, not to mention the rest of the world.
