Another Gormley

It's been another rather busy Sunday. We had our usual early morning walk, this time taking a different selection of paths and roads that led us past the Powderhall Gormley again, so this time I thought I would blip him. He's not wearing a mask, for the record.

Later activities included looking at old maps on the NLS website to figure out the history of some of the railway infrastructure on which we walk all the time (and also to figure out some of the loops and infrastructure which has now completely disappeared), reading the book group book for tomorrow (not going to finish it), and then skyping with Barrioboy and Digitaldaze in Barcelona. Unfortunately, barely had we got started with our chat, than our building fire alarm went off. This time it wasn't a false alarm, so everyone had to troup out into the car park across the way. It turned out to be a vehicle fire in the minus 2 car park (luckily we are in minus one), which probably destroyed more than one car. No idea what started it. Lots of black smelly smoke. And numerous fire engines in attendance. We were out there for the best part of an hour, I think, but when we finally got back we chatted again with Bb and Dd until we all decided we should have our respective dinners. Then over dinner we chatted with L.

So, pretty much a rather busy day!

PS I've now discovered it wasn't a fire in our car park, but adjacent to our car park. See the comments in reply to Munroist's comment below. Of course, it was right to take it seriously, and the fire service were incredibly quick and very professional.
