Day 26 - Kitty
The day we've been holding our breath for - the day we found out whether we stay in Level 4 or move down to Level 3.
Stay won the day.
We're staying in Level 4 until Midnight on Monday 27th .......another week. The decision to stay another week in 4 is , I feel, a good one. I suspect ANZAC weekend this weekend may have had a bearing on things......keeping us all in Level 4 lockdown removes (hypothetically at least) the temptation for people to sneak in a celebratory long weekend trip away. It's tough - particularly on businesses and people who have lost work and income, but it's the right thing to do. Short term pain for long term gain. We certainly don't want to be revisiting level 4 once we do move down to the slightly freer Level 3.
So in a week's time we'll go to Level 3 for 2 weeks. During this time we'll be aiming to ensure the disease stays contained and manageable as we all remain in our bubbles, though we will be able to extend them very, very slightly. We'll all continue to practice social distancing and most, but not all businesses will start to open. Shops that do open will only be able to do deliveries and contactless pre-ordered pick ups. In short, there will still be no face-to-face business, except for the 'essentials'....supermarkets, dairies and petrol stations.
And whilst the nation grapples with their feelings of whether or not they like the plan, Kitty Cat here (still not with a proper name) just lies on the floor and plays in a cardboard box, completely oblivious to everything.
