What?

There are a bunch of these things growing on the limbs of one of the Virginia pines - otherwise known as scrub pines - down in the grassy area at the bottom of our driveway. Some kind of gall/fungus/growth thing. Kind of interesting, but probably not a great thing for the tree. Scrub pines are pretty much what they sound like - not a particularly appealing pine tree. They always look half dead. I think this one may well actually be half dead.
