A cute little ball of downy feathers

No sign yet of cygnets or goslings but the mallard ducklings are beginning to appear. 

While they are so small they are very vulnerable.  I spotted five in this family but there may have been more. If they would just stay among the vegetation and reeds where they are reasonably well camouflaged their survival rate would be better. 

Keeping my fingers crossed for this wee family.
